It seems to my inexpert eye that this has been the flaw for over a decade in climate science. Revenue to produce results to fit theories being another important driver but the absolute necessity to twist facts to fit the theory is abhorrent. Demonstrated ably this last week in remarks about US snowfall from Mann and others.
The 2nd quote is:

Climate Science is riddled with estimates which seem to err on the side of warming. An estimate is still a guess and so far all guesses have failed to achieve fruition.
But in terms of this post, climate science has become Law in the eyes of the beholder and is no longer a theory to be tested or challenged within the ranks reaping the commercial benefit of twisting empirical observations beyond recognition to fit the hypothesis. "The Science is settled" is a most detrimental statement to science leading to a suppression of good science and our ability to further understand our climatic home. Climate science is not "law", but is written into our laws as if it were.
Seems much of the rhetoric is designed to fool people into believing hypothesis is law, also seems to be failing.
